What if it Works?
Imagine if the lightbulb was never made, and we always had to use a candle, until this day. Imagine how the world would be like then.
For one, we wouldn't have computers, because computers are made up of pixels. That's basically a very, tiny lightbulb. We also would not have street lights or car lights. Our world would be so much different.
So yes, the lightbulb is a great, and useful invention. Without, a lot of things we have, would not exist today. Not having it would make the world very different indeed.
Not even that, but imagine having to hold a candle, with wax dripping everywhere. Then they would need to make candles with more wax. How much wax could a candle have without taking up so much space, though?
I'm sure they'll also find a way to "modernize" the candle somehow. Maybe they will find a way to make street lights with the candle. Like what if they make small hollow fire-proof glass boxes. Then they could put some wood in the box, and light a small fire like that. They could put that in the street lights instead of light bulbs.
Still, that would just light up the way at night, but it would not work with traffic lights. Then again maybe they would figure out how to do that too.
Either way, it would be better if we just had the lightbulb.
