What if There Was Only One Dimension?

What if it Works?

We live in a three-dimensional world. I'm sure you know, but just in case. If you're new to this world, I mean in knowledge, I would probably tell you that those dimensions are length, width, and height. Reference to your ruler.

But what if there was only one dimension. That means all there would be is length.

So take away the width and the height.

Everything shrinks, right? What are you left with? This:

This is by far way too boring. If there's life on the first dimension wouldn't you think it would be kind of tiring?

You're really just staring at a line every day.

But does it have to be?

Let's see.

1. What we would think it would be like?

We can't draw the first dimension. It's just seemingly impossible.

Why? Simple, we can't draw a real line. Any line we draw would have some height to it. We can draw the thinnest that we can, but in the end, if we look at it through a microscope, we could see it has a ton of width.

But we still could have some type of a mental picture in our head of what a real line would be. If you can't just try to picture a very very thin line.

Now, let's imagine a life like that. Like we said before. Boring. But at What if it Work? We have to get creative.

The whole world doesn't have to be one big line. It could be a bunch of lines, with a space to separate them.

So let's say each of these lines
could be a house. We can even go further, and try to make these lines smaller, or we could do something else.

Patterns. Even in the first dimension, we can make patterns. With a bunch of lines at different lengths. We can even go further, by increasing or decreasing the space between the lines.

Fanciness in the first dimension. How cool is that?

2. What it would be like?

Okay so now that we see how the first dimension isn't really that boring. Let's Imagine life in the first dimension with this new view.

What would we do with these patterns?

They could be houses or mansions. Depending on however long we make it.

In the third dimension, the house is measured by size and design. What would be size in the first dimension?

Length. The longer it is the better. For design? Like we said before.

Still wouldn't it be better to live in the first dimension? Obviously. But the first dimension doesn't really seem so boring after all. Right?

What do you think?
