What if We Had Flying Cars?

What if it Works?

Intro

-------------

Wouldn't that be nice? To just sit in your car, deploy the wings, and blast off to the sky? We could go anywhere we want. We wouldn't even need planes.

Or would we?

Technically, according to that way of thinking, there shouldn't be any trains, or uber, and taxis. So why wouldn't we have planes?

We have Taxis for if we need to get somewhere, and we don't have a car at the moment, right? Well, maybe planes would be taxis? What if the planes could be smaller, and look similar to a flying car. If you don't have your flying car on you, then you could just pay a plane driver to hitch you a ride.

That would still mean the planes would change a lot, so they could be driving around on the road. Right?

Let's see.

1. What we would think it would be like?

Let's say flying cars came out. It would take a while for it to get popular, but when it does, what would happen to airports and helicopters? Would we still want them?

If planes would be used as taxi's then that would mean that all the airports would have to shut down, causing a ton of people to lose their jobs. That wouldn't be good, would it?

So maybe airports would still have to remain, but then why would anybody use planes then? If it's so easy to just hop into your car and fly, why would we want to line up, and go through a whole headache for some car? You don't see and taxi stations anywhere were people would have to go through a bunch of security.

Whys that? Because not so much people go on a taxi at a time, so your not worried about hijacking.

It would be the same thing with planes though. If we have flying cars, not so much people would be going on planes so we wouldn't need security. Although, that would mean there wouldn't be much of a need for airports.

What about things like traffic? The people walking on their own two feet back on the ground, wouldn't need to watch for cars because there wouldn't be streets. Everybody could just have their own runways instead of a driveway next to their house. How would we prevent car crashes though?

We may be able to have lights propelled by electricity, but how would we maintain order? We would have to have a limit to how high, and how many lanes there could be.

How could we do that? We don't want it to be like this:

2. What it would be like?

Back when cars first came out, order was made with stop signs and traffic lights. Flying, though, is a whole new drama. Even lanes would pose a problem. How could you have lanes if people could just go, and fly around everywhere?

Maybe, we could make wide walls and a roof around a certain area, where all the cars would go through. Kind of like a tunnel, just on the air.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose though? Wouldn't you want flying cars to see the sky and the scenery?

In that case, maybe we could make the tunnels full of very strong glass so nobody could crash through it if there is a car accident.

That brings up another question. If there really is a car accident, how would we protect ourselves? If the engine stops working, we would just crash down through the ground, and blow up to bits.

So how would we prevent that chaos from happening?

We can't really. That's why it's basically impossible to have flying cars. Unless ... they can be self-driving. That would take away all the problems we have said before. We wouldn't need these tunnels in the sky, or traffic lights at all. Everything would be nice and orderly. Right?

Let us know what you think.
